I'm a freelance journalist, based in east London. My interests include travel, the arts, learning foreign languages, environmentalism and cycling. I have a Masters in English literature and play the ukulele fairly badly.

I write on a broad range of issues relating to the British arts scene, encompassing the worlds of theatre, art and literature. I have interviewed a number of leading theatre and cinema professionals including the actors Simon Russell Beale and Jonathan Pryce, directors Trevor Nunn, Michael Attenborough and Rufus Norris, and musician Gary Kemp. My work has appeared in publications including the Guardian, the Independent and The Stage, the leading journal of the theatre industry. I regularly review both film and theatre for a number of respected online publications.

I also write on fiction and non-fiction literature, having had articles printed in the Sunday Times Culture, among other publications. I am a regular reviewer for the Daily Telegraph books pages and Culture Wars, the online review of the Institute of Ideas.

In addition to arts journalism, I am a successful travel journalist, my features and city guides appearing regularly in Condé Nast Traveller, the Guardian, the Independent, the Daily Telegraph, Italy Magazine and numerous inflight magazines.

My other published writing includes features on volunteering and social and community issues. My work appears regularly in The Big Issue.

I blog (less regularly than I should) on various topics, including theatre, books and travel. Part of the reason why I blog so infrequently is that I'm constantly updating my Twitter status instead (see below). I don't know whether this is something I should be embarassed about or not.

As well as writing, I am an experienced editor and hold various freelance editorial roles including Joint Deputy Off-West End Editor at Whatsonstage.com and Editorial Assistant at MedNous.

I am a member of the National Union of Journalists.
